First round of The National Cup against an extremely good Shelford team. The Athena’s started off with a blistering try from Nancy which was converted by Lilly after only 5 minutes, however, Shelford didn’t let this early set back get to them as they put in some heavy tackles as their defence stood strong. On 20 minutes their resistance was broken with a trade mark run from Lola to make it 12-0 and then another from Nancy on 34 minutes to go in at half time 17-0 up. The second half was just as tough but Athena’s put up a great defensive display, especially Ruby who held up the ball brilliantly to deny a try. Four quick tries by Tilly, Lilly Jess and a hat trick for Nancy sealed the win 41-0. Players player was Ruby and Coaches player was Nancy. Thank you Shelford Rugby Club for a great game which was played in excellent spirit. #ipswichrugby #thisgirlcan ???❤️
