Thoughts

Today was a day of fine margins. Standing and watching a final we should have been in with the boys, watching sides we know we will beat nine times out of ten I hope brought home to them that whilst at this age, this wonderful game is all about building bonds, friendships and memories to take into senior rugby, we also have to get really good at producing the clinical rugby we delivered today across all of our games rather than most of them if we want to compete at the highest level.

A great lesson for us as we look at where we are as an end of term report and let’s be clear, the future is extremely bright and exciting.

Some of the rugby today was sublime. The game against Sevenoaks wasn’t anywhere near our levels. As a result we came third. Let’s learn and build on that. Let’s get really good at being consistently outstanding.

Star man

Levels across the group were good today in the main. Well done. But they could be better.

Some individually stellar performances today. I thought Fred von Moll was excellent at 9. Busy and attentive at the scrum, geeing his pack, harassing their 9, hitting tackles and living in the moment. Haz filled a gap left by the injured Fred Hudson in the opening half of the competition switching from back to forward and drove hard and true all day. Our back three, whether it was Joe F, Ollie S, Big Man Chaz or Joe M all showed their heels. Some lovely tries from Joe F and Ollie S today showing strength, power and really great feet. MoM goes to Joe M though today. First time out of the blocks at 15 at he was sensational. Well done Joe.

Training

We are training Thursday and Sunday. If you’re about, get there. Still much to do.
