Some wonderful rugby played by our lads

Wymondham U14 A 12 – 17 Ipswich U14 Black (Tries: Tom, Vic, Ollie S Conv: Call M)

The first half of this game saw us produce some of the best attacking phases we’ve put together this season. We played with pace, power and intensity and brought it all together at a level and intensity that simply blew a very talented Wymondham side off the park. I was exceptionally proud of all of the lads that ran out today and served each other so well. We hit tackles, we rucked, hit our lines, supported and generally were exceptional. Well done lads. Keep it up.

A brilliant opening try that saw Tom rewarded for his lung busting efforts to support runners posts right, was then topped by an even better one that saw Ollie drive at pace at Wymondham wide left before popping to Vic who stole in at the corner. We then went through hands again wide right before Ollie turned on the jets to leave the Wymondham players grabbing at air before scoring under the posts. Call M did well with one conversion from the three possible kicking into a very difficult wind.

Second half was a bit like England yesterday and all Wymondham on the score sheet. We had periods where we had opportunities and we either picked the wrong option a number of times or made errors that cost us. That said we worked hard and there was lots of learning to be had, most notably for me as feedback that we are in this together and we need to stick together when we are up against it. Wymondham scored two tries one of which they converted in the second half which meant and we edged it in the contest. Very pleasing for us as they are a big scalp and we very much look forward to playing them again next weekend.

Star men

All the lads put in very significant shifts today. I was mightily impressed and very proud of all of them. MoM went to Tom for a great display on his debut which culminated in him getting in for a try and generally showing himself to be all that we have seen and more in the training sessions he’s been to so far. Well done Tom, keep it up.

Thank yous
