A strong first half from the Bees, saw them open the scoring in the first minute with a try from Fred Ridgeon who showed some powerful running. This was quickly followed by another try in the second minute from George Oswald who completed his brace, scoring for a second time on ten minutes. Thomas Humphries then completed a dominant first half with two further tries on eleven and fifteen minutes, showing good movement and decision-making. Ipswich had been on top throughout the first half, by keeping a good shape, passing quickly and being completely dominant in the scrum.
The second half continued at a slightly slower pace, Theo Perkins extended Ipswich's lead on 30 with a strong run and try. On 33 Ipswich scored their final and try as Kieron Armes picked the ball from the scrum and ran through directly to score.
With ten minutes remaining the bees lost their shape somewhat and allowed Colchester to score three times.
All in all a good morning with the Ipswich scrum being unbeaten.
