IRFC U13 vs Lowestoft & Yarmouth

Ipswich RFC U13's faced Lowestoft & Yarmouth on a sunny Sunday morning at Humber Doucy Lane. The first run-out for the boys in while at home due to the very recent conditions.
Lowestoft & Yarmouth had brought a physically intimidating team, however the game did not turn out as first impressions might have suggested.
Ipswich got off to a strong start dominating possession and scoring in the first minute through a lightning-fast attack for Fred Ridgeon, this was quickly followed by a second try for Ipswich from Alex Hodgson. Ipswich weren’t having all their own way and eight minutes Low and Yar got on the scoreboard, their big players proving difficult to stop. Ipswich immediately countered with another try through Alex Hodgson before Low and Yar pulled another try back on 17.
On 20 Alfie Bickers finished a trademark run with a try in the corner, Ipswich then completed the half with two tries for the ever-dependable Furgus Wilson which sandwiched the fourth try for Low & Yar.

The second half continued much in the same vein as the first, as Ipswich’s squad depth and fitness came to the fore. A try from Charlie Dunnett followed by two further tries from Alex Hodgson, another two tries from Fred Ridgeon which sandwiched an excellent crash-ball try from Bobby Warner, proved two much for Lowestoft & Yarmouth who mustered two further tries in the second half on thirty-two minutes and 43.

Overall a very good game for the Bees, who won nearly every scrum even though the pack was outweighed by the opposition. Handling was strong throughout and the mobility of the backs proved decisive to the final result.
