Each and every one of the players who played in Gold 1 & 2 deserve a huge pat on the back, and a salute from Jim and I from the front! What the day underlined for us is the importance to your team-mates of turning up if you are picked and that the fitness levels of the majority of our players is extremely high at this late point in the season.
Down to one sub for Gold 2 (and none for Gold 1) from the start, the boys in both teams ran and ran for 4 hours, playing five games each. Injuries to Aston (concussion) and Mo (Knee), took down the teams to 7 (G2) and 6 (G1) respectively. Well done to Harvey for literally running from one pitch to the other to fill in for Mo.
The scores on the doors for Gold 1 were:
Played 5, Won 3, Drew 1 and Lost 1.
Scored 22 tries: Joe (9), Alex (7), Mo (2), Matt (2), Sam W (1), Bill (1).
A real mixture of scorching runs from Joe and Alex, quickness of thought from Mo and Sam from the scrum, pure strength and aggression from Matt and some nifty feet from Bill, leading from the front as ever.
It was great to watch - AS EVER! - thanks to parents of all boys all of whom watched both sides play.
What a great day for 7's rugby the sun was shining and the pitches looked in great condition to play on, unfortunately two boys who said they could play didn't turn up for their team mates which made the day very hard from the start.

I took Gold 2 and Alex took Gold 1.
Gold 2 V Norwich
Score :- 0 - 50
This was a very good Norwich team who went on to play in the cup final, the boys played very hard and never gave up for the whole game.
Gold 2 V Bury 3
Score :- 0 - 45
Again a very good team, once again the boys played with a lot of heart, with Aston leading from the front.
Gold 2 V Bury 1
Score :- 15 -15
A much more even match and the boys were very unlucky not to win.
Tries from, Aston 1, Max 1 & Stanley 1.
Gold 2 V Colchester
Score :- 5 - 15
This game was going to be hard enough with 8 players but unfortunately we lost Aston in the game before which made this game very hard, but once again none of the boys gave up and didn't stop running. What a great effort from all of them.
Try from Logan.
Gold 2 V Mistley
Score :- 20 - 30
This was the boys last game of the day and what a great game it was, it was back and forth all game but the boys were unlucky again to lose this game to Mistley.
Tries from, Harvey 1, Sam T 1, Stanley 1 & Logan 1.
This just shows how far these boys have come this season, when you consider we had five forwards and only three backs in this team it is a credit to the boys. The scores doesn't reflect how hard these boys worked all day.
Because they were playing teams that were a little bit better than we were, they could of easily given up and not tried but they didn't. There was no whinging or whining, there was just a lot of hard work and a great team effort from every single player. As a coach it was great to be part of. I am so proud of them all and if they carry on like this next season it bodes well for us all.
Cheers
Jim.
