Ipswich Gold 25 v 10 Sudbury (Aston, Alex 2, Sam Gibson, Sam Wright)

That this a couple of years back used to be the big fixture in the season for our Black squad shows us just how far we have come as a squad. That Gold took the game to them from the kick off and then convincingly beat them shows how far this unit has come this season. To a player we were outstanding today. Those that came on, came off, got moved about, all picked up and delivered a perfect storm to end a brilliant journey of a season for this fine group of young men. The bar is so high within the one squad collective now that the move into the 15 a side game comes at exactly the right time for us in our development. It is all very exciting indeed.

Our pack today was immense. We were strong, brave and consistent in our movement and although Sudbury were very good at the ruck and the breakdown in general, we were better. That gave us a platform and we really did score some lovely tries.

Our backs were busy and strong both in their running and their tackling. I love that I can write that today. We really do look strong all over the park and that only bodes well for next season. Our hands were generally good and our fitness told. We are fit and we can play at a high tempo for the full 50 which is what we want to see.

Star Men

Every player was outstanding today. So so proud of them all. The journey some boys have made this season has been sensational. The journey every boy has made has been solid. As a coach team we lined them up at the end and we shook hands with them rather than the normal they shake hands with us. We are just really proud of all of them and wanted to recognise what they've given this season. All that work was delivered for all to see in one game of rugby today.

Star man today in his first outing in Black and Gold goes to Sam Gibson. What a debut young man! Looking forward to working with you moving forward.

Learning

We recognise we still have lots to work on of course, we all know that and we are going to have a lot of fun learning and developing together. The future is very bright at the Lane.
