Ipswich U15s welcomed YM to the Lane for the first home game of the season in drizzly conditions. The conditions did not seem to hamper the lads as they scored 3 quick tries all in the corner after flowing moves including forwards and backs.

YM responded with a classic interception from YMs loan player, Jack Hussey, who read one of our plays and scored a try YM deserved for their effort and perseverance.

Ipswich continued on the front foot with our forwards involved in a great battle with their impressive pack, but once the ball was delivered to the back line, our pace was to much for the YM defence and the lads ran in a further 3 first half tries.

The second half continued in the same vein with our lads scoring some well worked tries, stretching the YM defence and scoring some quality tries out wide.

Mid way through the second half the YM team began to tire, but they never stopped trying which was a credit to them. But this did result in our forwards making big gains and making life easier for the backs to score freely.

A further 8 tries were scored in the second half and there was a lot to admire from the quality of the rugby from Ipswich.

Final score– Ipswich 88 – Ipswich YM 5

Special mention to Jack Hussey who volunteered to play for YM from the start, this is in the true spirit of rugby. Also, thanks to others who were ‘voluntold’ or volunteered later to cover some YM injuries.
