Boys really are a joy to watch

Ipswich U15 Black 68 - 0 Norwich (Tries: Joe M 3, Dom 2, Tom 2, Murph, Sadds, Harris Cons: Murph 9)

Today was a run out of sorts for the boys. We had a number of lads playing in new positions, Rozza got injured in the week so didn't start and we took Arch off after 20 as a precaution with a neck injury. This meant we asked a great deal of lads this morning but we needn't have worried about how it was going to pan out, not that we did. The boys simply swept Norwich aside this on this glorious January morning at the Lane. Another shut out and another devastating display of solid rugby and hard running on a very sticky pitch.

Yes, we got a number of things wrong in terms of decision making and our line speed wasn't its usual suffocating best, but we controlled the game and never looked in trouble, even when the Norwich lads were on top of our try line as they were a number of times during the game.

Some great performances in amongst our usual high work rate across the team. Joe Mallet moved from 8 to the wing and weighed in with a hat trick of tries, Dom made great yardage all morning and bagged a brace, Sadds got a try but was I was more pleased with his solid, aggressive work at the break down. Alex linked play well and put team mates away to score. Our forward pack was much disrupted because of Norwich injuries and we didn't get to work so much on our structure as a pack as a result. That we secured another shut out today though was in a big part down to them. Murph gave us a top end display in kicking that was almost faultless. That word almost though, means we have work to do with Colchester away next week in the last round of the County Cup if we are to remain unbeaten.

MoM today goes to Tom. He crumpled the Norwich 10 and 12 a number of times, linked play well and bagged himself a brace of tries. Top work Tom. Well done.

Training gives us much to work on. Make sure you get there.

Thank you to Dave Upson for refereeing and to Dougie and the Mums for organising the food.
