A beautiful, windy spring afternoon saw us lock horns with our old friends up at Woodbridge in a friendly that both clubs were keen to get on. I’ve always liked the Woodbridge lads; they work hard for one another and are an honest bunch who give everything for their shirt from first to last whistle. We’ve struggled to get sides out over the last few weeks simply because of the volume of school rugby that is now creeping into Sunday’s and threatening the very existence of club sides. This isn’t just exclusive to us at Ipswich, but we are seeing it affect lots of sides in the local area.
So, it was great to get a scratch side out today, even if it was just 16 black and gold players in the end. The boys that ran out this lunch time gave everything for the shirt and importantly for each other. Thank you to the whole backroom team for getting involved and making that happen.
