The closure at the Rushmere end of Humber Doucy Lane has been extended until the end of March.

Update 4 March:
The closure of the east end of Humber Doucy Lane has been extended until the 26th March. Please continue to access the rugby club via Sidegate Lane or Tuddenham Road and allow extra time for the diversion.

A spokesperson for Cadent, who is carrying out the works, said to The Ipswich Star: "We have a responsibility to make sure every property that uses gas has access to it 24/7, 365 days a year and as part of this promise we do have to carry out planned and emergency work when needed."

"In Humber Doucy Lane, Ipswich, we are in the process of replacing mains which are underneath the road and in order to do this, we have had to introduce some road traffic management."

4th February:
The east end of Humber Doucy Lane, Rushmere Road and The Street will be shut from Monday 5 February 2024 due to gas works by Cadent. Only works vehicles or those who require access to their home will be able to pass, with diversions in place along Playford Road for all other vehicles.

Ipswich Rugby Club will remain accessible via Sidegate Lane and Tuddenham Road. Please allow extra time when you’re travelling to and from the club.

The closure on Humber Doucy Lane is expected to last throughout February, with various end dates reported. The Suffolk Highways-affiliated website says that the road will be inaccessible until 18 February, however there are reports that the work could take six weeks in total.
