Eastern Counties Colts Cup Quarter Final

Having not played for six weeks we were surprised to be facing Sudbury in the quarter finals of the EC Cup. We had anticipated playing Colchester but they had lost to a resurgent Sudbury XV two weeks earlier.

Due to our lack of game time we started slowly despite scoring and converting in the first ten minutes. Sudbury countered with a score and conversion and continued to pressure us in the ruck. However we maintained a pick and go strategy which led to a further two converted tries. The Sudbury players pressed hard but were prevented from turning possession in to points by our aggressive tackling. At half time the score stood at 21-7 in our favour.

The second half proved to be fractious with both teams having a player yellow carded and too many penalties were given away for our indiscipline. Consequently Sudbury scored and converted taking the score line to 21-14 and only twenty minutes to play. We regained or composure and concentration and went on to score twice missing one conversion. The final score was 33-14 - we now move on to play Shelford in the semi final.
