Some general information about the Ipswich 7's festival on Saturday May 4th.
Just over a week to go now until the 7th Rio 7s, now known as the Ipswich Youth 7s.
This year we have gone with the same format as last year but the timings have been extended slightly so i will briefly go through a rough guide to timings etc.
On Saturday the festival will start at 10am. Thats Kick Off time.
We have U13s and U15s kicking off at 10am and the finals scheduled for approx 13:30.
The U14s and U16s will be kicking off at approx 14:15 and finals scheduled for 17:30.
On Sun 5th, the U13, u15 and U18 girls will kick off at 11:00 and finals scheduled for 16:00.
All matches will be played on full size pitches except the U13 and U14 boys and U13 and U15 girls, who will be playing XRugby 7s on Half pitch.
All playing laws will be the same across the age groups except those playing cross pitch, who will be playing to XRugby laws. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOwuP9wP6NU
After all competitions the presentations will be made at our registration/score trailer which will also be the go to place for everything.
They will have two physios and medics present on both days.
Whilst we will try and cover every game with refs, there will be a need for clubs to help out by reffing the odd game, so the refs can have a much needed break. There will also be some Young Match Officials at Rio as normal and I would expect everyone to respect everyone who is giving up their time in order for this festival to happen. Without these referees there wouldn't be a one.
Parking will all be on site and will be monitored by our club volunteers and police cadets. Anyone abusing these volunteers will be refused entry.
VERY POLITE NOTICE
We will not tolerate any abuse or verbal misbehavior or verbal criticism of Referees, players and any IRFC volunteers - it is a condition of entry, that team managers take responsibility for their club's players, officials and spectators. If there are any such problems, offenders will be asked to leave Ipswich RFC's premises. A second offence will result in the whole team being asked to leave. NO EXCUSES!
6. Duration of Games
6.1 All age groups (subject to teams entering, playing times may be increased)
6.1.1 Pool and knock-out rounds will be 7 minutes each way with 1 minute for half-time.
6.1.2 The finals will be 7 minutes each way with 1 minute for half-time.
6.1.3 No extra time will be played.
6.1.4 lf a 30 point margin is reached the competitive game should end at that point but the coach will be asked if they would like to carry on.
11. Pool/League Positions and Knock Out Stage
11.1 In the pool stage, 4 match points will be awarded for a win, 2 for a draw. With a bonus point awarded for losing by 7 points or less
11.2 Pool positions will be determined by the team with the highest number of match points.
11.3 If 2 or more teams have the same number of match points then the team with highest score differential (points for minus points against) will be placed higher in the group.
11.4 If 2 or more teams have the same score differential then the team with the most wins followed by tries scored will determine the position
11.5 Should they still be equal it will be the result from the game between the 2 sides that will determine who finishes higher
11.6 If all else is equal at the pool stages, the result will be determined by a drop goal kick off.
11.7 The score on the refereeās card is final.
