Ipswich Barbarians 78Ipswich Barbarians turned the heat up on Mistley on a cold blustery Saturday afternoon to dot twelve tries down in a shortened match. With braces to new South African centre Tokkie Kotze, centre Adam May and prop Ed Partridge the home side flowed through the visiting defence at will, despite some strong individual Mistley performances. Several retired Ipswich players shook the cobwebs out of their boots and Mike Fielden and Dave Lintott both scored during their annual run-outs, while powerful Australian number eight Sean Murphy crossed after another thundering run, with captain Nick Holly, Jamie Griffith and Mark Harding completed the rout.
Mistley were given a try near the end after a miskick and fumbled ball from a maul on the line, which Mistley pounced on to make the trip nearly worthwhile. “The depth at the club has provided the lower teams with a wealth of players,” said Holly. “We’re hoping to get similar commitment for the away matches though and want more at trainings on Tuesday and Thursday nights."
